Formula and methodology
Volume in cubic feet = length × width × depth. Capacity in litres = cubic feet × 28.3168. Storage days = litres ÷ daily usage.
Worked calculation example
A tank measuring 6 ft by 4 ft by 4 ft holds about 96 cubic feet, or approximately 2,718 litres before allowing for freeboard and unusable residue.
What can affect the result?

The water level normally remains below the tank's full internal height.
