Add, subtract, multiply or divide signed integers up to 500 digits without floating-point rounding, with a labeled integer quotient and remainder. Use signed whole-number strings containing up to five hundred digits in each field. A leading plus or minus sign is accepted. Commas, spaces inside a number, decimal points and scientific notation are rejected rather than removed ambiguously. Leading zeros do not change the integer value. Both fields are text inputs so long integers remain strings until the exact BigInt parser reads them.
How to use it
- 1
Choose the correct input basis for big number calculator — exact integers and enter the values described below. The demonstration defaults are examples, not independently verified personal measurements.
- 2
Review precision beyond number before submitting. Match the selected units and roles to the original source record, including any signs or percentage conventions.
- 3
Click Calculate result to submit the current inputs. Editing a field preserves the previous submitted output until you calculate again; the status message identifies that pending change.
- 4
Compare the labeled result with the worked example and independent verification checks. Review limits and verification before copying it into another worksheet.
Formula and methodology
Operations use BigInt integer arithmetic. For division: A = B×q+r, q truncates toward zero, |r| < |B| and r has the dividend’s sign when nonzero.
The calculator applies the displayed arithmetic to the values entered on this device. It does not silently load a local tax rate, currency conversion or commercial assumption.
Worked calculation example
9007199254740993 plus 1 returns exactly 9007199254740994, including digits ordinary floating-point input can lose. For −17 divided by 5, the integer quotient is −3 and remainder is −2: 5×(−3)+(−2) = −17. The division mode does not claim a fractional decimal quotient.
How to interpret your result
The selector determines whether the first integer is added to, reduced by, multiplied by or divided by the second. Subtraction and division depend on order. Addition and multiplication do not. The browser performs only the selected operation; typed expressions are not evaluated. A five-hundred-digit input bound controls work, but multiplication can legitimately produce a result with up to one thousand digits.
For different inputs or formulas, use Long Division Calculator; Decimal to Fraction Calculator.

Scenario comparison
| Scenario | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Large addition | 9007199254740993 + 1 stays exact. |
| Negative division | −17/5 gives quotient −3, remainder −2. |
| Zero product | any supported integer times zero gives zero. |
Common mistakes to avoid
- Parsing a long integer as Number before entering it.
- Expecting integer division to display a decimal quotient.
- Assuming truncation toward zero equals floor for negative values.
For addition, subtract the second operand from the result and recover the first. For multiplication with a nonzero factor, exact integer division by that factor should recover the other factor with zero remainder. For division, verify A = Bq+r and the remainder-magnitude bound. These integer identities remain valid regardless of the number of displayed digits.

Precision beyond Number
Ordinary browser Number arithmetic cannot preserve every integer beyond its safe-integer range. This worksheet instead parses the accepted text directly as BigInt. Addition, subtraction and multiplication retain all integer digits, even when the result is larger than either input. The digit-count row counts the magnitude’s decimal digits and excludes a negative sign. It is not a significant-figures assessment of a measured quantity.
Choose the operation
The selector determines whether the first integer is added to, reduced by, multiplied by or divided by the second. Subtraction and division depend on order. Addition and multiplication do not. The browser performs only the selected operation; typed expressions are not evaluated. A five-hundred-digit input bound controls work, but multiplication can legitimately produce a result with up to one thousand digits.
Integer division convention
Division returns an integer quotient truncated toward zero and a signed remainder. For negative dividends this differs from mathematical floor division, and the remainder may be negative. Both forms can be useful if their convention is explicit. This worksheet follows JavaScript BigInt semantics and shows the remainder to preserve the exact identity. A decimal quotient belongs in the separate long-division worksheet.
Limits and verification
A zero divisor is rejected. Negative integers and zero operands are supported for the other operations. The page does not compute powers, roots, fractions, scientific expressions or cryptographic transforms. Exact arithmetic does not verify that copied source digits are correct. When pasting a long identifier-like number, check its sign, length and final digits against the source before saving or reusing the result.
Privacy and browser processing
Values entered on this page are processed in the current browser session. SolvePilot does not require an account and does not receive the values entered into the calculator. Refreshing or closing the page clears the working values unless the browser itself restores a previous session. Avoid entering identifying or account information because the calculation needs summary values only.
Accuracy and verification
Accuracy depends first on input quality. Confirm definitions, scales, dates and source information before entering a value. Keep an independent record of any result used for planning because this page does not create an official statement or retain a calculation history.

Frequently asked questions
Are decimals accepted?+
No. This tool handles signed integers. Use the long-division page for its separate finite-decimal input scope.
Does multiplication round large results?+
No. Supported inputs are parsed and calculated with exact BigInt integer arithmetic.
Is division a decimal operation?+
No. It returns the integer quotient truncated toward zero and the exact remainder.
Can a remainder be negative?+
Yes, when the dividend is negative. That signed convention preserves A = Bq+r.
Can I enter scientific notation?+
No. Write the full integer digits without exponent notation or separators.
