How this calculator helps

Enter the electricity units consumed during the month to receive a transparent planning estimate. The result separates estimated energy charges from adjustable taxes and surcharges so you can understand the assumptions.

How to use it

  1. 1

Copy the units consumed from your meter or latest bill.

  2. 2

Enter an average energy rate and the additional-charge percentage shown on your bill.

  3. 3

Review energy charges separately from the estimated taxes and surcharges.

Formula and methodology

Estimated bill = slab-based energy charges + configurable taxes and surcharges. Actual DISCO bills may include FCA, QTR adjustments, TV fee and other provider charges.

Worked calculation example

If a household uses 250 units, the calculator applies each configured slab to the relevant portion rather than multiplying all units by a single rate.

What can affect the result?

Tariff category

Residential, commercial and protected-consumer tariffs can be calculated differently.

Billing adjustments

Fuel and quarterly adjustments may change from one billing period to another.

Meter period

A longer or shorter meter-reading cycle changes total units even if daily use is stable.

Limits of this estimate

This simplified planner does not reproduce every DISCO slab, protected-status rule, minimum charge or time-varying government adjustment.

Frequently asked questions

Is the electricity bill calculator free?

Yes. SolvePilot tools are free, work in your browser, and require no account.

Does SolvePilot store my values?

No. Calculations run locally in your browser and the values you enter are not sent to a server.

Should I treat the result as an exact bill or quotation?

No. Results are informed estimates. Final charges can vary because of taxes, tariffs, lender terms, usage patterns, or provider rules.

How can I improve the accuracy?

Use recent values from your own bill, statement or institution, review every assumption, and confirm important results with the relevant official source.

Why can the real bill differ?

FCA, quarterly adjustments, protected status, taxes and the billing period can change the final amount.
